How Trouble Clothes Got Started
My first "Trouble" shirt was printed in 2006, when I was a senior in college. It started as a funny graphic tee to wear out and about. Seven years later, I came up with the idea for the company after getting into a bit of trouble myself. I thought it would be cool to redesign the shirt and make another one. I went to redesign the “trouble” shirt that I designed years ago and thought, “If I want one, maybe someone else does too.” I also wanted to use my experiences to help those who cannot help themselves. Voila! Trouble Clothes was born and turned into the company we have today, helping others with trouble.
I first learned about Hillside Hospital after I graduated from college. Several friends of mine worked there. I was deeply moved by their dedication to the kids at Hillside and to the difference that they were making in young lives. When I came up with "Trouble Clothes," my first thought was to raise money for Hillside.
Six years later! The company has become a reality! In April of 2019, we connected with James Barnett of Clothe Your Neighbor and were honored to add his company to our project.
Everyone goes through trouble. Everyone has caused trouble at some point. This clothing line is about acknowledging this fact and then helping children and teens who have experienced troubles that were not their own choice.
